MEET THE MEN OF THE IRONSIDES
ALEX CHEUNG

kiwiNickname:
some call me Chunk.

Lesbian Name:
Cindy

Position(s):
Wing, Center, Flanker

About Me:
In a couple sentences: I enlisted in the Army after high school, did a 4 year stint, deployed to Iraq in '03 and '05, got out went to college (still there), and now I'm a cop in my hometown. I can eat more than most everyone I know but I have an alcohol limit of 3 drinks....max.

How long I have been playing:
Since 2006 with the Ironsides.

Favourite Rugby Moment:
I have two. Going to the Bingham Cup in Dublin, Ireland in 2008 with the Ironsides. We only had exactly one full side of 15 guys to go, but it was an amazing time playing with the Ironsides. The second was also a Bingham moment, this time in Minneapolis in 2010. I was playing with the Dublin Warriors and in the final game against the SF Fog B-side and I stopped a try in our half making the win a shut out win for the shield.

What does playing rugby with the IRONSIDES mean to me?:
Ironsides doesn't discriminate. It's a welcoming environment, all that matters is what happens on the pitch and you give it your best, and if not better luck next time, you learn a little bit more with each practice and especially game. The Ironsides has been a second family to me, driving me to become a better player.

What would I say to someone thinking of joining?:
I hear a lot "I'm not big enough!" But rugby is not all about big guys... I'm not that big, but you will be put into a position that fits best and you learn to use your size whatever it is, to your advantage. And honestly rugby is the funnest sports out there.
