About Me:
II grew up in Gettysburg, Pa. I attended high school at Georgetown Prep before going to Boston College. I recently received my master's degree for Library and Information Sciences with a specialty in Archives Management at Simmons College. Besides rugby, I am a huge soccer fan, and I play soccer whenever I am not on the rugby pitch. I also love country music, NASCAR, and drinking Budweiser.
How long I have been playing:
10 years, 2001 Gonzaga College in Dublin, Ireland; 2002-2004 Georgetown Prep RFC, captain 2004; 2004-2008 Boston College RFC, community service secretary 2007; also have played with Boston RFC, and Monmouth RFC in various summer 7s and 15s tournaments; joined Ironsides in Fall 2011.
Favourite Rugby Moment:
Playing: winning a DC high school 7s tournament right after graduating, being able to win a trophy with some of my fellow seniors was a great way to end high school
Watching: attended the first Celtic Cup final in 2001 at Lansdowne Road in Dublin, where Leinster defeated Munster.
What does playing rugby with the IRONSIDES mean to me?:
Playing with the Ironsides has given me the chance to bring some of my past rugby experiences to help this club grow both on and off the pitch. As the gay rugby team in Boston, I have seen how much pride and energy my teammates put into this club. This has made me determined to work harder on my skills to bring this club to the next level.
What would I say to someone thinking of joining?:
Rugby really is the most fun sport you will ever play. I always tell people it is for all shapes and sizes, anyone can find a spot on the pitch that suits their skills. The comradery of a rugby team is unmatched in my opinion, for both your teammates and also playing an opposing team. There is nothing like battling on the field for 80 minutes along sides your teammates, and when the game is done, having beers and telling stories with the other team. All ruggers are brothers in the sport they play. |
