What does being an Ironside mean to you?
It means growth and adventure. When I came to the team, I knew I would find a safe space and could freely be authentic, but what I found was even better: a brave space. You are free to be yourself and will find people who will celebrate that, but you'll also find opportunities to challenge yourself and learn. Being vulnerable and uncomfortable is something you learn to accept while you're on the pitch, and I think that also stands for much of what we do as an organization.
What is your favorite memory of the team?
Honestly, probably the first summer I spent with the team in preparation for the fall 2018 season. It was discovering a whole new world athletically, socially, and spiritually. Some of the greatest friends I've ever had I met during this time and feel grateful to have made this journey with all of them.
If you could have a superpower what would it be and why?
Easy, it would be flight. People say I look like Clark Kent when I wear my glasses, and it would mean never having to deal with the hell on Earth that are airports.
What is your favorite comfort food?
So hard to choose, but I'd say it's a tie between tortas and buffalo chicken mac and cheese.
What are your other hobbies besides rugby?
Hiking, cooking, baking, lifting, travel, visual art, reading, and piano, among other musical things.
